Miscellaneous Monday

A Jared Update:

Jared has found his tongue and loves the suck on it and stick it out all the time. What a cutie!!

A Funny Elizabeth Moment:

We were driving in the car one day coming home from the store and Jared was babbling away. Elizabeth got tired of listening to him and very nicely said "Jared could you please turn down the volume on your radio."

I just had to laugh. I am not sure why she decided that him babbling was equivalent to a radio.

Mom & Dad's Yurt Adventure

On Tuesday January 22nd Steve & I headed up Millcreek Canyon for a night up at the Big Water Yurt. The only way up is by cross country skis, snowshoes, or hiking. We chose to cross country ski up. Steve took the sleeping gear for both of us and I took the dinner up in my pack. With all the weight he had to carry, I only held him back a little on the way up (the way down, now that is a different story...). It was a gorgeous night. We had scheduled the yurt because of the full moon, and it was beautiful as it reflected off the fresh layer of snow that had fallen the previous Sunday evening. The snow capped trees were silhouetted against the moon lit sky and dim moon light caused the snow everywhere to glisten and sparkle. It was a refreshing change from the hustle and bustle of the city. Everything was peaceful on the trip up, and we thoroughly enjoyed the time to talk. After a refreshing 2 1/2 to 3 hour ski up we arrived. The yurt is well stocked with laterns and a wood burning stove that gets the place heated up within an hour. Other than my concern over leaving my little boy for the very first time ever, we had a great time. We enjoyed the peace and stillness that the forest provides. Next time we head up we will have to post some pictures!

You are go getters! Sounds like a cold outing, but a fun one!

The kids are growing so fast! I love these photos! Her comment about his radio cracks me up!
