Back in January Steve and I spent our first night away from Jared and headed up Millcreek Canyon to the yurt. We were suppose to go up again in February we actually had the yurt 3 days, but alas, we never did make it. Things got crazy, so we decided we didn't have time (or the energy) to make it all the way to the yurt and back, so we settled for a nice leisurely ski up the canyon.
It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon. The sun warmed up the
trail, so that it wasn't really necessary to have a coat on. The trail was littered with recreators, skiers, hikers, snowshoers, as well as the ever faithful canine companions to the above. About a mile up on the south side of the canyon, a large moose was nestled in between some trees. Everyone was stopping to look and take pictures. It didn't seem at all disturbed by the amount of attention it was receiving, and just sat restfully. He stayed put the whole time we skied.
It was really a nice way to get out and enjoy the beautiful winter weather, and I am glad I dragged my reluctant body out the door!

Crawling
Yep, just today as Elizabeth and I were cleaning out her toy cabinet, Jared crawled over to get the toys. Of course he is slow moving right now, which is good because we have lots to put away. Now the real fun begins!!

I'm still laughing...
Okay, so tonight before putting Jared to bed, I decided enough is enough, he needs a pair of PJs that actually fit. For some reason I have a ton of 6 or 9 month jams, but not 12 months jams. I have casually looked at a few places over the past few weeks when shopping (no luck finding warm jammies in February, you have to buy those in like um August or something...aah I hate marketers and stupid pre-season clothing selling - I only go shopping when I actually need something...but I digress). I haven't put much effort into it, since he could still barely squeeze into the old ones. After the last few nights I decided that it was pure torture to force him into any of his old jammies, so I went in search of pajamas in my stash of Elizabth's clothes. Unfortunately it was cold and dark in the shed and so I grabbed the first pair I could find. They were size 18 months and decidedly pink. But hey, what does he care that he is wearing bright pink jams, he doesn't know that boys wear blue and girls wear pink, he just knows whether or not his toes are falling off because it is cold!! I almost took a picture of him right after putting him in the jammies because I set him down to go get something and since he was so tired he looked at me with sad puppy dog eyes and whined and cried. I actually had the caption formed in my head to go along with that picture when I decided I didn't want to go in search of the camera. Finally comes the funny part, I was feeding him just before putting him to bed when Steve got home from work. Well, Dad did a little double take when he saw his little boy in bright pink jams, for a second he thought we must be babysitting someone! Ha, ha, ha, jokes on Dad! Maybe I will get a picture in the morning!

Happy Valentine's Day!
We had a wonderfully full Valentine's Day yesterday and felt very loved because of it. We had visitors and treats galore, thank you for all of them. Once again, I am not a great picture taker, but Elizabeth loved her heart shaped pizza, and when 9:00 pm finally rolled around and I finally served Steve his dinner, I think he was just happy to have something to eat. I am posting a bunch of recipes from yesterday's cooking adventures. By the way we had - Balsamic Glazed Salmon, Portobello Steaks, Bruschetta, and Latkes. I had two other menu items planned that got placed on hold due to limited time!

Turban Heads
On Saturday night Daddy was getting Jared into his jammies for bed and he pulled his shirt up over his head and it stuck. I thought he looked so funny I had to take a picture. Well, Elizabeth couldn't miss the opportunity to get her picture taken as well, so Daddy got her shirt piled up on her head as well. Here are our little turban heads.
